Trevor Smith has been working with clay in South Gippsland since 1975. He completed a Graduate Diploma in Visual Arts at Monash University and studied under Hedley Potts, Owen Rye and Ino Kyoshi. His current work explores the diversity of results achieved using a temperamental Shino glaze. The glaze is often inclined to contribute ‘faults’ that can vary from delightful to disastrous. This mirrors the magic, unpredictability and lurking chaos of the outside world with suits the loose character of his work.
