Susan Storm, from South Gippsland works along side her partner who is a potter. Working in the studio along side him, she is drawn to the decoration process. Her inspiration is by the naïve style of a child. After watching her grandson painting at kindergarten she could appreciate his spontaneous use of colour and line. Susan asked her partner to through some asymmetrical shapes for her to decorate and by applying her grandson’s technique has developed this collection. ‘I did think of getting him to decorate the pots for me but apart from his splash slash and walk away approach, he is convinced he’s got better things to do’. Susan has background working life in the fashion industry, particularly theatrical costume design. She designed and made costumes for Coal Creek Historical Village in Korumburra and made many wedding dresses. In the 90’s, she started her own label, producing ‘Theatrical Street Wear’ which was sold through Jugglers Gallery at Foster North.
