Sue Acheson’s work is fired in her home-built kiln to a temperature of 1327◦C, using only wood from her property near Rokeby, Victoria. When the wood burns, it creates flame and ash; making its own glaze as it lands on the clay surface. The works are affected by the ash in different ways, making all pieces individual, never to be repeated.
Sue Acheson makes practical, beautiful and individual pieces to be used everyday. The high temperature firing ensures they can be used in the oven, microwave, freezer and dishwasher.
Blending contemporary styling with ancient techniques, each piece is lovingly made by hand and finished in the wood-fired kiln giving unique personality.
