Peter Marshall is an artisan of fine woodworking. He specialises in small heirloom cabinets suitable for jewellery or other small objects. Made of Australian timbers, their structures reflect modern architectural concepts, while decoration in marquetry of Yarra Valley birds and plants recalls an earlier age of intricate craftsmanship. Marquetry is rarely used in modern furniture making as it is both difficult and time consuming. Peter strives to use this ‘old-world’ skill in a way that will appeal to modern tastes.
