Nick Perrin was born in Bournemouth, England in 1956, where his lifelong connection to landscape began. Inspired by his great grandfather, impressionist painter T. Hodgson Liddell, Nick developed an early appreciation for oil painting and the subtle interplay of light and colour. Growing up by the sea near the New Forest, he was surrounded by serene coastlines, sheltered harbours and dramatic skies—motifs that continue to echo throughout his work.

A career as a technician saw Nick travel extensively across Europe, where the warmth and vibrancy of Mediterranean landscapes—particularly in Greece and Spain—left a lasting impression. Drawn by visions of vast horizons and open space, he eventually made the move to Australia, settling first in Melbourne and later in the Strzelecki Ranges of Gippsland.

Immersed in the landscape and colours of seasonal change, Nick began painting, and in 1998 committed fully to his practice. Now based on the Mornington Peninsula, he continues to explore oils, capturing the quiet beauty of rural and coastal environments with sensitivity, atmosphere and a nod to the Impressionists use of tone and texture.
