Marina Pribaz

Ceramics

Marina Pribaz is a Melbourne-based ceramic artist who explores themes of fragility, innocence, and resilience through her finely crafted porcelain works. Each piece is a three-dimensional painting—a quiet meditation on transformation. Porcelain, especially Southern Ice Porcelain, is Marina’s medium of choice for its purity and strength. It begins in a state of delicate vulnerability, yet endures intense firing up to 1300°C, emerging translucent and resilient.

Her process involves wheel-throwing or hand-forming initial shapes, which she then transforms into plaster moulds for slip casting. Each form is carved and painted either in the greenware stage or post-bisque firing, guided by an intuitive sense of mark-making. Gold veins, striations, and subtle colour washes echo the human experience—our challenges, strengths, and inner beauty. Marina’s works are delicate, contemplative, and created with patience over many stages, from casting to glazing.
