Grant Flather & Helen Wilkinson

sculpture

Grant Flather and Helen Wilkinson draw inspiration from the vibrant birds and flowers in their South Gippsland garden, nearby coastal reserves, and the breathtaking landscapes of Wilsons Promontory. Their work celebrates the joy of nature, where birds weave through trees and flowers sway in the breeze, filling the landscape with life and colour.

Grant’s sculptures highlight the beauty and resilience of Australia’s native flora and fauna. With bold forms, vivid colours, and the striking contrast of Corten steel and polished stainless steel, his creations offer a contemporary take on natural themes. Sandblasted, powder-coated, and treated with UV-resistant automotive paint, his flowers are both durable and vibrant, while Corten steel leaves develop a protective rusty patina.

Helen’s handcrafted glass bowls add a stunning feature to Grant’s bird baths. Made from three layers of glass, each bowl undergoes a meticulous two-step firing process. The result is a functional yet artistic 12mm-thick bowl, uniquely shaped, textured, and coloured.

Together, Grant and Helen’s creative vision invites viewers to pause and reconnect with the beauty of the natural environment.
