Congratulations to David on his recent award: ‘Best Contemporary’ in the Trending Art Show 2022 at Pakenham Cultural Centre, Victoria.

David Hocking works from his home studio at Bunyip, West Gippsland Victoria. Residing in the area for most of his life, David has experienced first-hand the development of the local rural landscape, once dotted with sprawling farmland, giving way more and more to small allotments, hobby farms and housing developments. The price of progress often features in David’s work, such as his ‘Tip-scape’ series.

David studied a Diploma of Art at Warragul Technical College before further study at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. He has successfully participated in numerous group exhibitions and exhibited work in various galleries around Melbourne and regional Victoria.

Early works by David were predominantly traditional landscapes; his recent works are more abstract-style, still conveying meaning, demonstrating themes and subject matter.
