Painting has always been a passionate part of Annette Smeeton’s life.  She remembers the feeling of selling her first painting; ‘I was in high school and was so excited that someone wanted to have my work on their wall‘.  Annette still finds it like that, a very humbling and wonderful experience to sell an artwork she has created.

After a career in the fashion industry, Annette decided in 2002 that is was time to devote herself to painting full-time; her work is influenced by her upbringing in the Western district of rural Victoria, where the vibrant colours of the seasons are a never ending source of inspiration.  Annette predominantly works with oil paints; ‘I love the texture and the permanency of colour which will hold true for many years’; she enjoys painting from her city studio based in South Melbourne, or from her home over-looking the peace and beauty of Corangamite Lake.
