“My drawings show readily recognisable figures and events taken from my memories and life experiences. However, I consider line, tone, shape, form and colour to be of equal importance to the subject matter of my work.” – Elisabeth Williams
Elisabeth Williams was born in the Netherlands in 1951 and as a small child moved to Melbourne with her family. After training as a Secondary art teacher, Elisabeth moved to East Gippsland, where she has resided for over 30 years. Elisabeth enjoys exploring various forms of media, relating most strongly with painting and drawing. She has developed a strong individual style with her colourful, stylised figures playing out every-day vignettes on canvas. Elisabeth enjoys life-drawing on a regular basis and finds the immediacy and directness of these sessions both refreshing and stimulating.
