“I have always had a love-affair with clay; I am addicted to its properties, discovering limitations and pushing boundaries. Clay is messy and time consuming; I still feel I have so much more to discover, I simply hope others will love my artwork as much as I do so that I can keep creating for as long as I am able.” Sally Walk
Sally Walk is a ceramic sculpture artist located in Melbourne, Australia; she grew up on the Mornington Peninsula, Victoria where she spent her childhood searching rock pools for unusual sea creatures, snorkeling and swimming at the beach. These wonderful experiences have no doubt influenced her artwork which has often been described as referencing sea creatures.
Ceramics is Sally’s ‘addiction’, she has been working in clay for over 30 years and has gained an impressive list of achievements: B.A. Ceramic Design, Post Grad. Diploma of Teaching and currently completing her final year of a Masters Degree in Visual Art. In 2015 Sally was awarded the “Lorenzo il Magnifico” award (1st place) for ceramics at the Florence Biennale in Italy. In the same year she was a presenter at the New Zealand Ceramics Conference and attended the Changchun International Ceramics Symposium. Sally has presented at symposiums in China, India, Japan and South Korea and has exhibited her work in Australia, France, China, Japan, Italy, New Zealand and South Korea. This year she will have a solo exhibition in Australia followed by the Tokyo International Art Fair and in 2018 a solo exhibition in Manhattan New York.
